1. Who is suitable for Dental Implants?
There are several factors to consider in order for the patient to be suitable for Dental Implant surgery. The patient should be in good health, have healthy gums and have sufficient jawbone to support the implants. Our dentists here at East Bentleigh Dental Group will perform a series of tests to ensure that you are an exceptional candidate for Dental Implants. We will evaluate your mouth through a clinical exam as well as performing a dental x-ray to establish your potential in receiving the implants. In the exam, the dentist will be able to determine what kind of implant will work for you. The x-ray will also tell our dentists if you have enough jawbone density to support the implant.
3. Why should I wait 3 to 6 months before the implants are completely fitted?
You need to remember that after the surgery, your jawbone and gums will still need to heal. In most cases, the healing process will take around 3-4 months. The dentist will require you to go for regular check ups after surgery in order to see the healing progress of your jawbone and gums. The waiting period will vary with the quality of bone present and the place where the implants are installed.
4. Will I feel pain during surgery?
Dental Implant Surgery is experienced with little pain and discomfort. In most cases, local anaesthetic is all that is needed. However, if you are the type of patient who has trouble numbing or that you are anxious around dentists or you have fear of dentists, we can recommend IV Sedation. This will keep you relaxed throughout the procedure. We employ various pain management strategies to make this as comfortable a procedure as possible
5. What will I feel after the anaesthetic has worn off?
People who went through this procedure often feel some discomfort. However, the exact amount is based on your pain tolerance.

Yes. It is important to remember that you have to clean around the implants. This will help in preventing gum disease, which can cause the implants to fail. We will provide you with the instructions on how to clean around the implants in order to ensure proper healing and prevent gum disease or infection.
7. If my implants fail, can I still get additional implants placed?
It will depend entirely on your jawbone. If there is adequate bone left, you can still get additional implants. However, if too much damage has been done and there are not enough jawbone left for the implants, it may be impossible for you get additional implants. We can offer a bone grafting procedure which can increase the density of your jawbone to allow additional implants to be placed.
8. Should I get professional cleaning done by the dentist or hygienist to clean my implants?
You have to remember that cleaning it yourself may not be sufficient. This is why periodic implant check-ups are required after surgery. The dentist will be able to sufficiently clean around the implants to promote faster healing and prevent implant failure.

An artificial crown can cover a tooth that is severely decayed, broken, or brittle. This should be a painless procedure that takes two or three dental visits and the results typically last from 10 years to a lifetime depending on the materials used in constructing the crown.
Crowns are a propular treatment in our practice & we have systems in place to make the treatment as simple and as effective as possible.
During the surgery, the first step is the insertion of the implant. We use only the best materials for our Dental Implants in order to get them to merge perfectly with the jawbone and prevent the body from rejecting the implant. For patients with insufficient jawbones, we also offer bone grafting procedure. This will help the patients to get enough jawbone for the implants to be inserted and properly anchored.
